By supporting us you support 10 of the 17 UN goals for a better world for everyone by 2030. You can read more about this goals below or about all of the goals at globalgoals.org.
Most of our production takes place in small agricultural communities outside New Delhi in India. These communities primarily live on income from their farms, but there is an uncertainty associated with farming. There is an unpredictable difference in how much work is available during the year due to the seasonal changes. We provide the communities with the opportunity to weave carpets in their "dead time" and thus provide an extra stable income that ensures better living conditions.
We are certified under the Global Recycled Standard which you can read more about further down this page. The GRS-certification ensures that a great number of measures has been taken to ensure good health and safety conditions.
Most of our production is based in India, a very conservative country, where women typically only handle cooking and child care. For us it is important that the women in the villages we work with has just as much of an opportunity to craft rugs as the men do. In fact, the finishing of our rugs are primarily done by women.
As with goal 3 our GRS-certification, under point B2.6 and B2.7, also ensures a number of measures has been taken to ensure that our personnel operate under proper wage and within proper working hours.
By being sustainable by heart and therefore thinking alternate materials into everything we make, we are constantly promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization and supporting innovation.
Our rugs are certified under the Global Recycled Standard. This means that our rugs must contain at least 20% recycled materials but we always strive to use as much recycled material as possible. Our Leather, Cotton and PET rugs for example are all crafted from 100% recycled material. We also use other innovative materials in our rug production such as jute, bamboo and recycled wool fibers.
For us responsible production is the foundation on which we base our company and responsible promotion is what we try to promote to everyone with our mantra: Every step counts.
Most of our products are made from recycled materials. These materials are looked upon as trash for many. We take this trash and turn it into something that is both beautiful and useful. We believe sustainability shouldn't be a compromise in design.
We are taking small steps where we can to minimise our carbon footprint. Our website is carbon neutralised, our shipments are carbon neutralized, all of our rugs are naturally colored and dried in the sun, the water from coloring is filtered and reused, our warehouse uses light dimmers that activate only whenever there is activity and turn completely off when the daylight is sufficient, we offer reusable packaging from RePack and everything we print is on recycled paper.
Our PET rugs are made from plastic bottles from waste rivers in India. It is our goal to inspire a larger demand for this type of waste, so that we can avoid it ending up polluting the oceans.
Through the various carbon neutralization projects we support in connection with parcel shipments and neutralization of our website, we invest heavily in protecting, restoring and supporting the sustainable use of ecosystems on land, promoting sustainable forestry, combating desertification, halting soil depletion and biodiversity loss.
We believe that no one can save the planet alone, but that everyone should consider what they are able to contribute with. It's a lot easier when everyone works together. To achieve the global goals we are working together with one of Italy's largest fashion brands to turn their leather offcuts into the Porto and Tuscany collections.
Our production is certified by Global Recycled Standard to ensure you that we don't just talk, we also walk. The certificate ensures good working conditions for our artisans as well as our usage of sustainable materials.
You can read more about the certificate below.
The main goal of GRS is to increase use of Recycled materials in products and reduce the harm caused by production.
GRS certified products must contain at least 50% recycled material but we always strive to use as much recycled material as possible. Our leather and cotton rugs eg. contain 100% recycled material.
The certificate also ensures good working conditions, in terms of wage, working hours, health and safety and ensures that no child labour is used.
Show certificateRead moreWith every delivery carried out by UPS and PostNord we donate a small fee towards sustainable climate projects being realised by UPS’ Carbon Neutral Shipment program and PostNord Green Delivery.
You also have the option to have your package shipped in reusable packaging from RePack.
When choosing UPS you counterbalance the impact of your delivery through carbon offsetting and help fund environmental projects around the world that reduce carbon emissions like the sustainable conservation of the Garcia River Forest.
The projects that PostNord climate compensates through are Sri Balaji, a biomass project in India and Yangjiayao, a wind farm in China. Both projects are certified by the UN and are Gold Standard certified, the highest quality of climate compensation in the market.
The reusable packaging is made from recycled materials and protects the rugs better than any other single-use packaging. Packaging is adjustable and does not ship any air, saving money and nature. All reusable packages are designed to fold into letter size when empty and are simply returned to a postbox, anywhere in the world, free of charge.
Our warehouse uses light dimmers that activate only whenever there is activity and turn completely off when the daylight is sufficient, ensuring maximum use of light and minimum electricity waste. We also print everything on recycled paper, ship in recycled boxes and our website is CO2 neutral.
Through the CO2 neutral webside initiative CO2 is neutralised corresponding to the emission from our website. Emission from both our servers and your computer is covered.
